Duronto Express HYDERABAD - DELHI FLAGGED OFF

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday flagged off Secunderabad-Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) Duronto Express, a bi-weekly non-stop train service. 

Duronto, which means “quick” in Bengali, is the fastest train to New Delhi from the State capital with a journey time of 21 hours. The train is a bi-weekly with departures from Hyderabad on Sundays and Thursdays

Train No 2285 Secunderabad-Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto bi-weekly express will depart from Secunderabad on Sundays and Thursdays at 1.30 pm and reach Hazrat Nizamuddin at 10.35 am the next day. 

On return journey, Train No 2286 Hazrat Nizamuddin- Secunderabad Duronto Express will leave Hazrat Nizamuddin on Mondays and Fridays at 4 pm and arrive in Secunderabad at 2 pm the next day. 

The train will have four classes of accommodation - AC First Class, 2-Tier AC, 3-Tier AC and non-AC sleeper.

 
To match up to its name, the coaches have been made of stainless steel shedding off much of the unwanted weight carried by a traditional bogey. This will enable the train to travel at high speeds of more than 130 kmph.

Another distinct feature of the train is the auto-closing vestibule doors in every coach. In case of a fire, these doors will close automatically preventing the fire from spreading to the adjacent coaches.

The train with all reserved accommodation, will provide medical assistance on board. Doctors with paramedical staff and essential life-saving support system will be readily available.

However, the disappointing aspect for users is that the Tatkal scheme is not available for the train. Also, no concession will be entertained except that of senior citizen. The train not only stands as a symbol of comfort, but also as a triumph for the State as it has been allotted to the city after much lobbying.
